New quarter, new impact update! In figures, graphics and with fascinating insights, we are showing you what we have achieved together for people and the planet in the last few months through sustainable banking.
At Tomorrow, your money works for a better future. Not a single cent is invested in coal, factory farming or other industries that damage the planet. And as a community, we are also having a positive impact on the climate and us as a global community. We ensure that all projects and companies that receive money from Tomorrow are contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Here’s a rundown of what we achieved through sustainable banking together in the last few months:

With your accounts you have funded environmentally and socially sustainable projects
Deposits
The money in your Tomorrow accounts is being used to finance renewable energies, climate-friendly transport, better education, affordable housing and sustainable communities. Basically, a good future worth living in for us all. That happens through the sustainable investments, which some of our customer deposits are channeled into. A total of € 107 million is invested sustainably, representing around 31% of the total customer deposits. Of this, 9% is in sustainable bonds supporting environmental protection, nature conservation, and social issues such as education and healthcare, 61% in social bonds dedicated to social, sustainable housing, inclusion and healthcare and 30% in general-purpose bonds financing institutions and companies that operate in line with the SDGs.
Zero
We need an all-round approach to climate protection. That’s why we are using our Zero account model to restore ecosystems, develop innovative technologies to store CO₂ and bring about political change for more climate protection. As the Zero community, you are ensuring that more CO₂ will be prevented in the future – and are therefore contributing to a climate-friendly approach to CO₂ emissions. To do this, these three projects are currently supported: the renaturation project in South Africa, the Carbon Collectors (a regional vegetable carbon project) as well as the climate policy work of the Clean Air Task Force, which we wrapped up in May 2025 after nearly three years of partnership. Since May, our commitment has been directed toward the work of GermanZero, a climate advocacy organization that our Zero customers can better relate to and that is actively pushing for effective climate policy in Germany. In total, your contributions to Zero this quarter will help avoid 6,934 tonnes of future emissions*, with €5,611 going toward climate policy work and innovative carbon storage technologies.
*This calculation is based on the following scientific research and certifications provided by our partners Carbon Collectors and ClimatePartner Gmbh:
According to the Global Biochar C-Sink Standard of Biochar Based Carbon Sinks (Version 3.1 from 26th October 2024 ) for Carbon Collectors contribution. According to the CDM A/R large-scale consolidated methodology AR-ACM0003 “Afforestation and reforestation of lands except wetlands” and the associated Verra/VCS requirements for calculation of anticipated carbon removals for the Eastern Cape spekboom restoration project.

Referrals
With each referral, 3 m2 of land is renatured in the spekboom renaturation project in the Eastern Cape for both referrer and referee. In the first quarter of 2025, the planting of 1,493 Spekboom plants was financed for an area of 5,973 m2 via the referrals.

Through your card payments, valuable ecosystems were renaturated and rounded up for climate justice
Interchange Fee
Only with a healthy ecosystem can we preserve biodiversity. Therefore, the climate protection contribution* in the renaturation project in South Africa rebuilds valuable ecosystems. In the second quarter of 2025, the planting of 100,855 spekbooms for an area of 403,422 m2 was financed via the interchange fee.**
* With Tomorrow, money flows into the spekboom renaturation project in South Africa with every card payment. This is done via the so-called "interchange fee", which merchants have to pay to the bank or banking provider that issued the used card when making transactions.
** As of 7 July 2025. Slight subsequent fluctuations are possible due to changes to the transaction totals because of unpaid or declined card payments.
Rounding Up
With our Rounding Up feature, you can round up every payment made with your Tomorrow card to the nearest euro and support projects for greater climate justice with the cents. In the second quarter of 2025, our customers supported the ‘Stronger Women, Stronger Nations’ programme run by Women for Women International in Iran and Nigeria. This gives women access to education, financial resources and local networks. This in turn enables them to make important contacts and use their new knowledge and skills to become self-employed. In addition, they learn to better understand their rights and receive important health information. All of this then enables them to contribute to social change in their communities. The non-profit organisation NIDISI was also supported, which funded sustainable menstrual products, a major awareness campaign on the issue and jobs for women in Nepal.
A total of €181,330 was collected via the Rounding Up feature.
