In figures, graphics and with fascinating insights, we are showing you what we have achieved together for people and the planet in the first half of 2026 through sustainable banking.
At Tomorrow, your money works for a better future. Not a single cent is invested in coal, factory farming or other industries that damage the planet. And as a community, we are also having a positive impact on the climate and us as a global community. We ensure that all projects and companies that receive money from Tomorrow are contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Here’s a rundown of what we achieved through sustainable banking together in the last few months:

With your accounts you have funded environmentally and socially sustainable projects
Deposits
The money in your Tomorrow accounts is being used to finance renewable energies, climate-friendly transport, better education, affordable housing and sustainable communities. Basically, a good future worth living in for us all. That happens through the sustainable investments, which some of our customer deposits are channeled into. A total of € 137 million is invested sustainably, representing around 36 % of the total customer deposits. Of this, 7 % is in sustainable bonds supporting environmental protection, nature conservation, and social issues such as education and healthcare, 69 % in social bonds dedicated to social, sustainable housing, inclusion and healthcare and 24 % in general-purpose bonds financing institutions and companies that operate in line with the SDGs.
Zero
We need an all-round approach to climate protection. That’s why we are using our Zero account model to restore ecosystems, develop innovative technologies to store CO₂ and bring about political change for more climate protection. As the Zero community, you are ensuring that more CO₂ will be prevented in the future – and are therefore contributing to a climate-friendly approach to CO₂ emissions. To do this, these three projects are currently supported: the renaturation project in South Africa, the Carbon Collectors, a regional biochar initiative, as well as GermanZero, a climate advocacy organization pushing for effective climate policy. In total, your contributions to Zero this half-year will help avoid 12,631 tonnes of future emissions*, with € 8,652 going toward climate policy work and innovative carbon storage technologies.

*This calculation is based on the following scientific research and certifications provided by our partners Carbon Collectors and ClimatePartner Gmbh:
According to the Global Biochar C-Sink Standard of Biochar Based Carbon Sinks (Version 3.1 from 26th October 2024 ) for Carbon Collectors contribution.
According to the CDM A/R large-scale consolidated methodology AR-ACM0003 “Afforestation and reforestation of lands except wetlands” and the associated Verra/VCS requirements for calculation of anticipated carbon removals for the Eastern Cape spekboom restoration project.

Through your card payments, valuable ecosystems were renaturated and rounded up for climate justice
Interchange Fee
Only with a healthy ecosystem can we preserve biodiversity. Therefore, the climate protection contribution* in the renaturation project in South Africa rebuilds valuable ecosystems. In the first half of 2026, 199,648 spekbooms seedlings for an area of 816,745 m2 were financed through the interchange fee.**

* With Tomorrow, money flows into the spekboom renaturation project in South Africa with every card payment. This is done via the so-called "interchange fee", which merchants have to pay to the bank or banking provider that issued the used card when making transactions.
** As of 14 July 2026. Slight subsequent fluctuations are possible due to changes to the transaction totals because of unpaid or declined card payments.
Rounding Up
With our Rounding Up feature, you can round up every payment made with your Tomorrow card to the nearest euro and support projects for greater climate justice with the cents.
In the first half of the year 2026, our customers supported the Mission to Marsh project, which rewets and restores a severely degraded peatland near Osnabrück. Peatlands like this one store more CO₂ than all the world's forests combined. The project stabilises water levels, brings back peat mosses, and helps typical peatland species return. At the same time, local schools and communities are learning about the importance of peatlands for climate protection and the water balance.

Between February and April 2026, our customers supported the Eastern Cape Restoration Project run by the Climate Partner Foundation and its partner Ecoplanet in South Africa. The project opens up new income opportunities for people in one of the country's poorest provinces. A core focus of the programme is training community members in composting, baking, and in-demand trades, so they can start small businesses or find employment.
Following this, our customers supported the Mama Earth Foundation and its Malizia Mangrove project on Mindanao, Philippines. Women's associations from the surrounding fishing communities organise the planting of mangroves, earning the families involved additional income. The mangroves help protect the coast, provide a habitat for fish and mussels, and capture CO₂.

A total of €381,418 was collected via the Rounding Up feature.
